2 Minute Review: Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

Hey Ladies!

If you’re like me, then your skin doesn’t ALWAYS feel amazing.  Sometimes it feels dry…sometimes it feels oily…sometimes it feels like it woke up a little too early.  Regardless of how our skin feels, however, we often have to put it out there anyway…even when it wants to stay under the covers and hide for an hour or two…or a day.  :)

Because I always want my skin to look great, even when it doesn’t feel the best, I’m constantly on the lookout for BB Creams, powders, and especially foundations to help create the illusion of skin that is better than the usually uneven and sometimes ruddy cheeks that I naturally have.  I have fallen in and out of love with a lot of products over the years, but you guys…I think I just might have found “The One” when it comes to foundations.

No seriously…I think this is the real thing.

I’d like to introduce you to the new love of my face’s life:  Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation.

I got this wonder potion for my birthday, actually.  One brave friend knew that I was on the lookout for a new foundation, and decided to go out on a limb with this new product that neither of us had seen before.

She grabbed it for me in shade 820, Creamy Natural, and while I was worried if the shade would be correct, since my skin tone seems to change colors about every other week, but it turned out to be a PERFECT match.

This picture does NOTHING to show off the fabulous, wonderful, creaminess

To call this foundation creamy is pretty much the understatement of the year.  I have never…in my memory…used a foundation that was more velvety than this foundation is upon application.  Seriously...imagine the creamiest thing you have ever felt/seen/heard of...it's like a watery super lame mess compared to this stuff.  And...with primer and concealer built in, this liquid provides absolute full coverage, using much less actual product than I’ve had to use with other foundations I’ve tried lately…and it feels as light as a feather once it’s been applied.

Out of habit, I reached for my concealer after applying my foundation, and then set it back down…I really didn’t need it.  I’m sure that there will come a day when I’ve got super crazy skin, and the use of extra concealer will become necessary…but as for right now…this one product is all I needed…and that…is a miracle.

Okay, so I totally snaked this picture from yesterday's post...but it definitely shows the power of this makeup...I love it!

I honestly could NOT be happier with this foundation.  It’s new from Cover Girl and retails for just under $10.00 at most drugstores.

Have you tried this fabulous new foundation?  What is your favorite foundation for full coverage without feeling heavy?

Eye of the Day...(By Request!)...Featuring MUA Glamour Nights

A couple of posts ago, one of our favorite gals, Colleen at VanityandVodka.com featured a gorgeous look that she had created with her MUA Glamour Nights palette.  Upon seeing the look, I gushed in a comment to her that I love the palette and that I had a favorite look that I liked to create using it, at which time she requested to see said look.

As happy as I always am to share my favorite eye looks, I found myself suddenly a little worried.  It's one thing to throw a look out on a post when you already know that it's good...what if I was never able to create a great look again...after I'd already told her what a great look I loved to create?  Yeah...my mind works that way.

I really had nothing to worry about, as it turns out...the palette is such perfection that it does all the hard work...and I did end up with something I was pretty happy with.  I thought rather than doing a usual collage/post, that I would do a step-by-step, in order to really show how the look was created.  So...here goes....

First off...here's the palette itself...it's a beauty, isn't it?

I love EVERY color in this palette, but for this look, I actually only use these three shades:

As with any look, the first step HAS to be a good primer...used UD Primer Potion this time...

Once I was primed, I put the gold shade over my entire upper lid, and around the entire inner corner...

...and somehow failed to see that rogue eyelash beneath my eye.  This...will drive me crazy...

After the gold, I used the pink shade to create a bold centerpiece...

...and yep...that eyelash is still there.  Sheesh, Janine....

Next, I applied the brown shade from the pink out to the outer corner...

....and FINALLY brushed away that pesky eyelash away...phew!

Next, I used more of the gold color to blend the pink and the brown together...

Then...I noticed that I'd softened the pink more than I'd wanted to...so I applied more pink to the lid, and also to the lower lid...

...I'm really really in love with this pink.  Can you tell?

Next, more gold...just to soften and add some extra shimmer to the lower lid...

Next, I went back to the brown...to darken up just the corner of both the upper and lower lids JUST a tad...

Eyeliner time!  As an eyeliner addict, I can almost never use just one.  I opted for Corrupt and Perversion, both from Urban Decay...

...and clearly needed to repaint my nails...what's up with my thumb there?  Yikes!

I created a fairly run-of-the-mill wide line with Corrupt...and then did a darker inner line with Perversion...

Once I'd set my eyeliner with a little of the brown MUA shade, I grabbed a volumizing mascara by Prestige...

...and applied one coat...just to darken my lashes up.

FINALLY...my favorite part of every makeup look.  The lashes. They will make or break every single look I create...I cannot live without them.  Sigh.  Is this love?  I think it is.

Sorry...got lost there for a minute.

Anyway...any favorite set of lashes will work...this time I grabbed these flared beauties by Salon Perfect...

...and slapped those babies on, applying a final coat of mascara to try to get my lame lashes to mingle with the falsies and hopefully get along all day.  :)

Ahhhhhhhhh...all done.

The palette is called Glamour Nights, and some might think this a great look for an evening out...but I could wear this look all day every day, and never get tired of it.  As I told Colleen, it's a favorite...I love how the colors blend and work together, and when I can get a look I love with only three colors...(I sometimes get carried away and use 9 trillion per look)...it's a huge bonus!  :)

I hope you like the look...if you haven't checked out Colleen's gorgeous creation with the same palette, make sure to do that, too.

Do you have a favorite "go to" look or palette?  Do you prefer using lots of colors on your eyes...or just sticking with a couple shades?

January Ipsy: Starting 2013 Out Right!

I'm quite sure we've made it pretty clear in the past few months that we are IN LOVE with Ipsy.  Like many relationships that are worthwhile, there were some rocky points over the past year, but Ipsy has since changed more than their name, and has become our very favorite subscription service!  Is there anything more exciting than opening the mailbox to find that pink metallic package every month?  We don't think so... :)

January's bag lived up to recent month's reputations, and we were both THRILLED with its contents:

Inside our darling (we LOVE the star patterned lining!) bags for this month we found:

  • Makeup brush by SoHo...we both got a concealer brush.  As brush-aholics, we're tickled with this ergonomic design and are excited to try it.
  • Argan Oil by Josie Maran.  Everyone knows that Josie Maran's products are top of the line, and neither of us have actually tried her Argan Oil...so woohoo!
  • Nailtini Nail Polish...K got "frappe" (light pale pink) and J got "bloody mary" (bold beautiful red)...you know how we love our polishes!

  • Big Sexy Hair Styling Spray.  We haven't really delved too far into our love for finding new and fun hair looks on the blog...but maybe this product will be the catalyst to start that ball rolling...hahaha.
  • Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter.  We've mentioned before how dry the climate is around here...especially in the winter.  We are always excited to try new body butters, and this one smells delish!
Thanks, as always, to Ipsy, for creating a service that we love, and for sending products that we fall in love with every month.  We're loving these goodies already...but can't wait to see what's in store for February!

Do you subscribe to Ipsy?  What was your favorite product for the month?

"Purple Rain" Eye of the Day

Happy Thursday Darling Readers!

As I'm sure many of you have in the past, K felt like she'd been in something of a rut when it came to eye looks as of late, and wanted to do something new.  Relying again on the wonders of awesome palettes, she reached for her Tarte "Carried Away" palette for inspiration.  Being so easily won over by fabulous purple shades, she found the perfect combination to create today's gorgeous Eye of the Day, which she calls "Purple Rain."

What is your "go-to" color when you want to feel extra sassy or need to shake off the "blahs?"  Have you had similar luck with Tarte products?

Sigma's Defining Eyes by Tiffany D: 2 Minute Review & Eye of the Day

Santa Claus was pretty good to WyoSparkles this past year, and one of K’s favorite gifts was the new Defining Eyes Palette by Sigma/Tiffany D.

K has something of…for lack of a better word…an OBSESSION with this palette.  Given previous love affairs with Sigma products, K had high hopes, and this palette has turned out to be everything she dreamed it would be….she can’t get enough of it!

The palette is equipped with eight gorgeous colors…

…and K’s absolute favorite is the to die for “Midnight.”

The pigment and blendability of the palette are up to Sigma’s usual standard…aka…perfection!  The set also comes with two fabulous gel eyeliners, one pencil eyeliner, and a double ended Sigma brush.

And, as you can see, the goods in this set deliver big time…check out the sweet look K was able to create for today’s Eye of the Day:

Did you get anything fabulous from Santa this year?  What was your favorite beauty-related gift?

Thank Goodness for Bargains!

We've never denied the fact that we are 100% addicted to beauty products, and have admittedly spent what some might consider "too much" on some products that we just cannot see ourselves living without.  Regardless of our willingness to rearrange our budgets to make room for our favorite goodies, we DO love it when we can get something beautiful without paying an arm and a leg.

J found this fabulous NYC shade, Mocha, at Walmart last night for 93 cents...now that's tough to beat!

What's your favorite bargain beauty product?  Have you ever dropped a ton on a product that you regretted?

As much as we love trying new things...new foods...new shows...new dreamy fellas...the fact remains that trying new things sometimes results in huge failure.  When failure isn't an option, however, it's great to know that there are always some things...no matter what...that we know will always feel good.

The same goes for makeup looks, and while J loves to try new/wild/fun/colorful looks as often as time will allow, she can't deny that there are "old reliables" in her repertoire, and sometimes she just can't resist falling back onto those old favorites.

For today's Eye of the Day, J grabbed her Lorac PRO palette, which is perfect for creating one of her all time (semi-dramatic looking, but super easy to create!) eye looks:

Do you have a "comfort food" -esque eye look, or do you like to try something new every day?
