Okay, we’re going to come right out and say it…we’re not fans of the Kardashians. This is not to say that we have anything against them…but we don’t watch their show. We don’t follow their lives. We don’t remember how long Kim was married to what’s his face, and we’re not sure how we feel about those perfume ads by Khloe and her husband. (Just kidding, we know we hate those ads as surely as we know anything in life.)
That being said, it cannot be denied that those Kardashians sport pretty phenomenal eye makeup…and nobody is known for fabulous lashes like Kim!
These are the things we notice. Marriages? Relationships? Kids? Bruce Jenner’s face?? Who cares, people…it’s ALL about those Kardashian lashes.
With this in mind, it was only a matter of time before the Kardashian girls decided to market a line of false lashes. Trying to sell a fragrance or some nail polish using their name could have been hit or miss…but getting people to believe that a product just might help them achieve the lash based greatness that Kim enjoys…well, that’s money in the bank, people!
When K spotted these Kardashian lashes, sold under their Beauty Line “Khroma,” it took her 3.2 seconds to get J (who had been looking at Katy Perry lashes at the time) to snatch up a pair and throw them in the basket. The thought that she could even come close to Kim’s lash perfection overtook her…and she was OVER THE TOP excited to try them out!
J decided to try the “Gaze Lashes,” as they seemed to be the most full set, and definitely appealed to the dramatic eye look loving soul that she is. She could not WAIT to turn herself into a Kardashian-esque bombshell with these babies.
So…as it turned out…um…well…the lashes were pretty much the biggest let down J has experienced since Little Kenya’s Beyonce impression on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
It just could have been so much better. Sigh…
J’s biggest issue with the lashes was not how they looked once they were on…(although, truth be told, Kardashian-esque she was NOT)…but with how they applied. Without the patience to apply individual lashes to create her favorite looks, J relies on strip lashes (like these) on a daily basis, and how well they conform to the shape of your eye is a deal maker or breaker.
These guys…didn’t do a great job. The strip is pretty stiff in general, and while J appreciates that they’ll be sturdy enough to be used multiple times…it was ridiculously hard to get them to curve around her lash line…they just wanted to pull up on the corners…making it super hard to get the glue to fully dry with them in the right place. Then…halfway through the day…(every time she’s worn them)…the corners lift…returning to their apparent desired position of stiff as a board. :(
As for the way the lashes looked on…they were just okay. J might have overestimated the amount of drama these lashes could produce, and was underwhelmed by their shape and curl (or lack thereof) once they were applied. It's not that they look horrible on...but they don't look AMAZING, either. They're just...fine.
There were other options to choose from in the Khroma line…and perhaps one of these might produce a look with which J might be more happy…but the lameness of the strip itself leads us to believe that J won’t risk buying another pair…regardless of shape…any time soon.
Khroma lashes are definitely not on J’s Christmas list, and she wouldn’t recommend them very highly for any of you, either. Not only are they about twice as expensive as other lashes that J loves…(Ardell, Prestige, Model 21)…but they just don’t get the job done nearly as well as she hoped they would.
Are you a lash lover like J? Do you have a brand you’d love to recommend for her lash addiction?
