Tokidoki Artichokey

Sooooo…I’m trying to think when it was that we first became aware of tokidoki products.  I think we came across them on Sephora's site a while back…and we immediately loved them.  I mean, for heaven’s sake…if nothing else…it’s just freaking fun to say, right?  tokidoki.  toki...doki!  We just love it.  Hahaha.  Their packaging is super cute, too, with a cartoony theme that appeals to the kid in both of us.

It wasn’t until this weekend’s trip to Sephora, though, that I finally grabbed some tokidoki to call my own….the Arte Palette in 24 Karat…which was just 10 dollars and impossible to pass up.

These four colors are bold and beautiful, and I was super excited to give them a whirl.  I used the black color first, as a contouring color with another palette, and as I was just looking for a tiny bit of darkness that day, I thought it did okay.

Later in the week, though, I tried the palette all on its own, and as stand alone colors, these shades actually leave a lot to be desired.  The texture is drier than I usually expect from a shadow...and an overall lack of pigmentation made me sad.  Neither the silver nor the white shades were even visible without several coats...and even then...they weren't vivid at all.  :(

On the other hand, the blush is bright and fun, and blended well with my foundation.  Happy with my cheeks...not with my eyes.

Overall...I'm not thrilled with this palette.  Even for the bargain price of 10 dollars, I can't say that it's worth it...although, I really can't deny that it IS cute!

There are plenty of beauty gurus out there who love tokidoki products, so I'd be willing to give them another try...although I will definitely insist on swatching in the store before buying again.  Until then...we'll just have fun saying the name!
